How to become a world class copywriter

What’s the difference between okay copywriting and effective, response building copywriting?

One of the things that undoubtedly makes the difference is mindset.

How you approach the subject you’re writing about is key to the text you’ll end up with.

Why?

Because to get a response from what you write you have to involve the reader. Not with lists of features though they are the starting point for you.

What you have to create is a sense of excitement so that the reader is drawn into the world you’ve created for them.

So how do you do that – create that excitement?

Can you remember the last time you saw a film that you loved? That excited you so much the words tumbled out of your mouth as you were telling your friends about it. How easy was it to convince them that they should/must/had to go and see it?

That’s the mindset you have to be in when you write copy… about anything. Because if you can’t get excited about it why should anyone else.

How you create that mindset will vary. Some people do exercises before they start writing. Some play music that sets their heart racing and their blood pumping.

Whatever works for you is what’s important.

And if you can’t get excited about a project even with the exercises and music then maybe you shouldn’t be writing it. Because if you can’t get excited your reader will sense it and won’t respond and your copy will fail.

What will excite you today?
