This week I caught up with a fantastic band. The New Rope String Band.
A friend suggested I go and see them and the way she described them I ended up thinking it was a folk band.
I guess they were like a folk band. Two violonists plus a guitarist who played the fiddle and the mandolin and an accordionist with a talent for trumpet.
But they were much more. Think folk, crossed with Cajun, and a bit of Scottish plus a heap of slapstick eccentricity. They kept 300 people amused for two hours with a virtuoso performance. If you like something a bit out of the ordinary look out for them. They’re on a tour at the moment. But if they appear in your area, book up fast as they have quite a following.
