Women of Influence event, East Midlands Conference Centre

Just come back from a lunch celebrating women entrepreneurs, fundraisers and business owners.

500 women gathered together today to raise awareness and funds on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support.

We celebrated the achievements of women of influence with three outstanding speakers. Margaret Harrison a blue badge guide at Nottingham attractions such as the Gallery of Justice. Linda Clayton who spearheaded the campaign to raise a over £1 million to build an attractive and welcoming Women’s Refuge on Humberside.

And Jeanette Orrey now well known as the ‘Dinner Lady’ with Jamie Oliver stressed how vital it still is to provide nutritious organic food for children.

The event was well run with entertainment by Janet Rose the outstanding Midlands belly dancer.

Hi Eileen,
I love Women of Influence events. Last year it was the Calendar Girls – so funny and that politican woman (whose name escapes me) that was in I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here. My daughter and I went as we are both ‘women of influence’ in the Early Years field!
Did you have a go at belly dancing? Not on top of the scrumptuous lunch I hope?
Well done Women of Influence. I may see you next year.
