I was chatting yesterday to a couple of other writers like us. It’s good to exchange ideas and
listen to other people’s ideas about writing isn’t it.
Although all of us are primarily concerned with writing for businesess, we do try other types of writing. One of my colleagues is trying a script for a TV series, the other has a book planned and I still want to write funny thrillers.
You know what it’s like when you get people together who are passionate about what they do. Ideas were flying thick and fast with info about who had influenced us and where we’d made a leap in the way we worked or how something suddenly became easier for us.
I love those sessions because I come back enthused and fired up to write better, more often and with more variety.
Love it.
Writing can be such a self contained activity often. I don’t know if you’re like me but when I’m in the middle of a project, for a client or for me, then I become obsessed. Driven.
Sometimes my family say things to me and I never hear them.
My head is still in my story or my article or whatever it is that’s the project.
Passion. That’s what it comes down to. Having the passion to write.
I was thinking back yesterday to the time before I started my writing business. If you’d told me how much fun I’d have I probably wouldn’t have believed you.
Yes it’s been hard work sometimes. But I wouldn’t swop it now for anything. When I win the ERNIE million pound prize it won’t stop me writing. It’ll just shift the focus of my writing.
I’d love to hear what gives you pleasure about writing.
