Hire a copywriter

If you’re thinking about hiring a copywriter to write for your business but you’re not sure how to go about it, here are some of the questions people ask me.

Why choose me?

I’ve been writing professionally for the last six years consolidating work I did back in the 1990s when I worked for a medical equipment company and became their default writer. I’ve written sales letters, brochures, web copy, adverts and edited and written books.

When I decided to become a writer back in 2002 I began to study copywriting for real and discovered it was different from what I’d believed previously.

So I took courses, went to workshops and devoured the writings of past succesful copywriters. I studied in the USA with Jay Abraham, Michael Masterson and John Carlton, all marketing masters in their own fields. The more I learn the more I dig deep into the techniques that deliver results for clients.

Why do you need to care about your copy?

Your words on line or on paper represent you and your business. If you’re not getting it across to prospects or customers how you can solve their problems then you’re missing out on sales.

What’s even more important is that through your copy you can build a relationship with your customer so they think of you first when they need your product or service. Jay Abraham said sometimes it can take up to 20 pieces of contact before your prospect decides to trust you. If you aren’t contacting them on a regular basis you’re giving them every chance to forget you.

“Thank you Eileen for the fabulous introductory booklet that you have produced for us. I think it captures our spirit and our activities perfectly. We have also had one or two clients look at it for their feedback and one of them said that it paints the picture of us that they recognise, which is exactly what you set out to do! I look forward to continuing to work with you.”

Have I written for your kind of business before?

I don’t know… but in any case the type of business isn’t as important as the principles I follow in helping you get results. And learning about your business is half the fun for me in doing a project. The deeper the research I carry out into your company, your product or service, your competitors and your marketplace the more chance we have of success.

How long will the project take?

I have no idea until we’ve talked, decided how much work you want me to do and come up with a job brief.

Will I be writing your copy?

Every word, comma and full stop. If I accept your project then it gets my attention.

How do you get started with me?

Contact me via the website or call me on 0845 053 8988 and tell me what you need. I can tell you immediately whether I’m the right person for you, or you’re the right business for me. From there I’ll ask you to come up with a brief and then I’ll give you a quotation. I may need some extra information from you before I can quote.

“I can’t thank Eileen enough for her patience and honest feedback. we asked the impossible of her to edit our book in a week before the publisher’s deadline, and she did it. She really stepped up to the mark for us and did a fantastic job of advising us on what we needed to tweak. We made the changes she recommended and not only did we meet the deadline but also the publisher loves the book as is and we don’t have any changes to make – amazing for our first book. Now we’re just waiting for ‘Emotional Intelligence Coaching’ to be printed and hit the shelves in the UK as well as other countries. If you want support with your book, I’d highly recommend working with Eileen.”
