Imagine walking into a bookshop and seeing your book on the shelves – you know the one that you could write if only you had the time or knew how to go about it.
What would being an author do for you?
- Astound your family and friends
- Add credibility to your business underlining your expert status
- Share the passion inside you
“I’d wanted to write a book for several years but never thought I’d manage it. But I screwed up my courage to ask Eileen to help and now my manuscript is finished. I’m self publishing and the book is scheduled to be published in October this year. It’s a dream come true for me.”
Becky Shaw, author, Wonderfully Strange.
Is writing a book on your to do list this year? If so then this workshop’s for you – come and join a small group all focused on making their book happen:
The How To Write A Book Workshop, June 28/29th June, Nottingham BOOKING NOW CLOSED FOR THESE DATES(For information on the dates of the next workshop e-mail on eileen@words-for-you.co.uk)
Led by professional writer and trainer Eileen Parr, this two day workshop offers you a system you can work through to produce your book.
- If you’ve ever wanted to start but didn’t know where or how.
- If you’ve ever started but stopped because you were stuck.
- If you’ve finished but don’t know what to do next.
Writing a book is a major project and can be a lonely one. Having a plan to follow and small steps you can take to beat writers’ block and meet challenges means that you will continue to make progress.
So what does this programme offer.
- A pre-workshop stage to prepare yourself and make it easier when you attend.
- The two day workshop when you’ll take part, whatever stage you’re currently at, in a small group(delegates limited to eight) all ready to support your dream.
- A post-workshop stage to help you maintain the momentum you’ve built up in the two days. No matter how effective the workshop, you need support to be able to translate the information and planning into action when you arrive home and have to face all your usual challenges.

What if you want to write a book but hate writing?
Let’s be honest. Not every body wants to write. Not everybody likes writing. I know people who freeze at the thought of writing anything longer than a shopping list.
If you’re like that then there are ways around it. Allow yourself to believe that you can create a book and you will find the means to do it.
Is this workshop for everyone? No. The way I’ve designed it may not suit you.
- If you want just a creative writing class then this isn’t it. There will be tips and techniques to help your writing along but first and foremost this is about managing a successful book writing project so it takes in far more than the writing stage.
- If you have a wish to write a book but you have dozens of excuses why you can’t start now then this workshop isn’t for you. I’m looking for people with the desire and the determination who need guidance on how to manage the project.
- If you have a wish for a workshop where you can just pinch other people’s ideas. I’m offering a workshop full of strategies, tips and techniques that will move you on in your writing so that you become your own writer not a clone of somebody else. (you will have to sign a non disclosure agreement before you attend.) I think that’s only fair because if you had a great idea you wouldn’t want someone else to pinch it would you?
What investment will you need to make if you want your book to happen?
The programme includes pre-workshop planning, the two day workshop in Nottingham city centre(including manuals and all refreshments), and the four week post workshop support stage (including a one hour personal telephone consultation). Projected price for the next two day workshop in November is £695.
Introductory price for June is not £695 - it’s only £350.
Now some people may think that even £350 is a considerable investment for a two day workshop. But when you’re considering making that investment think:
- How long have you struggled on your own not making any progress towards your book?
- How many times have you started and given up because you couldn’t work out the structure of your book?
- How many times have you outlined your ideas to friends or family and they’ve put you down with negative comments?
Then think what it will be like to have a group support your ideas by helping you find the right target audience. Think what it will be like to have a structure you can turn to every time you hit a road block. And think what it will be like to have a friendly voice on the end of the phone after the workshop when you bring your queries to me.
But I do understand that even though what I’m saying sounds reasonable you don’t yet know me and how much I support my students. When I was teaching complementary therapies to practitioner level I had a reputation for supporting my students all the way through the exams, even when they doubted their abilities.
So I’ve decided to make you an even better deal.
Even better yet. Early bird discount £50 is available for all bookings paid for in full by 31st May 2008. Places are limited to only 8 because I want to be sure I can give you personal attention throughout the whole programme.
For more information e-mail me at eileen@words-for-you.co.uk with any questions or concerns. It’s not that I don’t want to speak to you but I’m busy putting the final touches to the manuals(I can’t stop myself just putting in a bit more, then a bit more!)
I’d love to know about the book you want to write, and even more help you to write it.
So you can carry on thinking about it, or you can join me at the workshop, roll up your sleeves and make your action plan to be a successful writer.
See you on 28th June.
Eileen
