It’s been quiet on the dead body front this last couple of weeks. I should have known it wouldn’t last! And it hasn’t. Yesterday morning…
Humphrey turned up for breakfast but didn’t seem that hungry. Wonder why?
I had my breakfast, lovely cereal(from Dorset Cereals) but it has a lot of nuts in it which I try to cut out. So not to waste the nuts, I give them to the squirrels who run up the sycamores at the bottom of the garden.
It was while I was hurling said nuts over the fence that I caught sight of two small white feathers. Giveaway! I was about to say dead giveaway – which in fact turned out to be the case.
Under one of our rose bushes lay the remains, in technicolour splendour, innards showing, of a wood pigeon.
I won’t describe it in more detail as you may just have eaten.
Body removal squad was called and we buried it in the garden.
Yuk.
For the rest of the day, Humphrey ignored the food we put down, and we cold shouldered him.
We love him really but….
